Edwin Morris “Wee Boy” Wells, 86, of Normangee, Texas, passed away on Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, in College Station. Mr. Wells was born on Jan. 23, 1922, in Madisonville, Texas, to Henry C. and Nancy (Manning) Wells.  His family moved when he was two years old to Houston Texas.  He attended Houston schools, graduating in 1937 at the age of 16 from Jeff Davis High School.

Mr. Wells was employed as a lineman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company before volunteering for service in the U.S .Navy in 1942. During the war he served on the Destroyer Conway which was seeing action in the South Pacific.  After receiving an honorable discharge from his military service, Mr. Wells returned to Southwestern Bell as an installer and remained there until 1981 retiring as a division manager after 44 years.

He served on the Spring ISD school board from 1966 – 1971, being Chairman for 4 of those years. He also was instrumental in founding the North Harris County (Lone Star) College and then serving on its board. The Edwin M. Wells Middle School in Spring ISD was named after Mr. Wells. He also served on the Normangee ISD School Board.

Mr. Wells enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, ranching, driving tractors, telling jokes and most of all playing with his grandchildren. He organized and served as the first president of the Spring-Klein Baseball Little League and was a 15 year member of the Tri-Club. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in North Zulch and the Lions Club of Hilltop Lakes. He was married to Shirley June (Goodson) Wells for 62 years. They had three children, Larry, Nancy and Layne, all of who graduated from Spring schools.
